What is the difference between a health consultant and a doctor? It’s a question people sometimes ask. During my training, we often referred to a triangular relationship:
You are the central figure in managing your health. You can take control of it in various ways, primarily through prevention (avoiding problems). If you want to strengthen your health, your personal commitment is crucial for achieving lasting results. See also “For whom?”
As a consultant, I can help by offering insights and targeted advice, or by providing physical treatments like (foot) massages. See “What?” and “How?”
Only a doctor is competent (and legally authorized) to diagnose and treat diseases.
It’s best if the three work together, each within their own area of expertise. Doctors and consultants can refer to each other when necessary.
